Madison seeking repeal of texting ban

The Madison City Council will begin the process of repealing a ban on texting while driving during Monday night's meeting... but that doesn't mean you can take out your device and start sending messages behind the wheel.

Instead, city leaders say they're repealing their law in deference to the stronger state-wide law that went into effect a few weeks ago. Madison's ordinance went on the books in 2010.

Law requires that the proposal be read twice before a repeal becomes official. The second reading has not yet been scheduled.
