The annual Madison Street Festival kicked off Saturday morning.
The yearly festival began back in 1976 and became Madison’s largest and most anticipated event. The event is free to attend and features many kinds of activities, including a children’s area. The festivities will also feature live entertainment and exhibits showcasing local students’ talents.
Several streets will be closed on Saturday for the festival starting at 7:30 a.m. These roads include Mill Road, Church Street, Main Street, College Street, Sturdivant Street, Front Street, and Martin Street. These streets will be closed until 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Sullivan Street was set to be closed from College Street to Front Street only for the Madison Street Festival parade until about 9 a.m.
