Art 4 Paws Pet Adoption and Art Festival

Art 4 Paws Pet Adoption and Art Festival

Some animals became pets today in downtown Madison. The Art 4 Paws Pet Adoption and Art Festival at the Village Green featured animals from several area rescue organizations.

Local artists helped bolster the event by showing their work, and vendors sold their wares.

Best of all some pets found good homes. The madison arts council joined with the animal shelters to make it happen.

MAC gears up for Art4Paws

MAC gears up for Art4Paws

If you have spent more than five minutes with me, you know about my passion for animals and art. One event that combines both of these things is Art4Paws. It’s put on by the Madison Arts Council on April 6th. Last year was its inaugural year, and a lot of great rescues and vendors came out despite the unseasonably cool weather.

This year, MAC is planning another great event with even more vendors and rescue organizations. It’s going to be a family-friendly art festival where you can bring even your furriest family member. And if you don’t have one, you can adopt one there!

Madison PD says goodbye to K9 partner

The Madison Police Department lost a beloved K9 partner Monday.

K9 partner Gunny succumbed to kidney failure.

Gunny served the citizens of Madison for four years. City officials say he helped seize illegal drugs and drug money during his time with the department.

Gunny recently retired and was living with his longtime partner Officer Jason Bolden.

'Art 4 Paws' Festival accepting vendors

'Art 4 Paws' Festival accepting vendors

The Madison Arts Council (MAC) is now accepting Vendors for the 2nd Annual “Art 4 Paws” Pet Adoption and Art Festival that will take place on April 6, 2013.

“Art 4 Paws” mixes art and arfs on the Village Green in Historic Downtown Madison. Animal shelters and rescue groups from the surrounding areas are able to promote their organizations and animals in need of ‘furever’ homes.

Professional photographers and painters will be on hand to capture your pet’s personality in their unique way.  Vendors will have booths with art and pet-related items for sale. Donations and profits from booth rentals will be divided among the participating shelters and rescue groups (after event costs).

This family and four-legged-friendly festival begins at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 4:00 p.m.

Madison Arts Council annouces 'Love Art' Membership Drive

Madison Arts Council annouces 'Love Art' Membership Drive

Along with being incredibly awesome at finding local places to shop and spend my money and sharing that on-line, I also happen to be passionate about the arts.   Now all across the Tennessee Valley there are local groups that support the arts, but what those groups need are YOUR support.

You may know about The Arts Council and how they put on Panoply, concerts in the park, the SPACES trail and Art on the Square.  Those things don’t just happen.  They take time, money, and volunteers to make these events possible for the public.

In my neck of the woods, they have the Madison Arts Council.  They are hosting a Love Art Membership Drive.  What/Who is the Madison Arts Council?
