Funeral services are planned this week for Elbert "Ebb" Davis, the first principal of Bob Jones High School.

Visitation is Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Deason spent most of his life in education. He was principal at Bob Jones when it opened in the 1970s. He also worked at Hazel Green High School, for Winston County Schools, and Franklin County (TN) Schools.

"Mr. Deason was a great educator and gentleman. He has had a positive influence on several generations of educators. Education was part of his DNA. He will be missed," said Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Dee Fowler.

Deason was 80-years-old and lived in Meridianville. He was an avid gardener and helped with Meals on Wheels.
