HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- A high speed chase that stretched from Huntsville to Madison ended in a multi-car crash on Interstate 565.

It happened around 11:30 Saturday morning.

The eastbound lanes near the Sparkman Drive exit were shutdown for almost two hours.

Huntsville police got a call around 11:15 that a man in a red SUV was driving recklessly down the interstate and waving a gun at a nearby driver.

Officers were able to catch up with the man they identify as Francisco Casique, but when they tried to pull him over, he took off.

Police chased him down the highway and onto Madison Boulevard, then back down 565 heading east.

As Casique was approaching the Old Madison Pike exit, police say he hit a Nissan Maxima, but kept going. No one in that vehicle was injured.

As he neared the Bob Wallace Avenue overpass, officers threw stop sticks into the road.

They say he hit the spikes and then struck a Gray Honda Accord. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Huntsville Hospital in a personal vehicle.

After hitting the Accord, police say Casique hit a minivan. That driver was transported to Crestwood Hospital by HEMSI with non-life-threatening injuries.

Casique was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say after he is released, Casique will be charged with Attempting to Flee, DUI, and Leaving the Scene.
