Boil advisory remains in effect for areas impacted by water main break | News
MADISON, AL (WAFF)- A temporary boil water advisory has been issued for an area east of Hughes Road, north of Madison Pike, and south of Bradford Farms due to a water main break.
Bob Jones High School and Discovery Middle School were closed Friday, according to Superintendent Dr. Dee Fowler.
The water main break happened near the intersection of Eastview Drive and McAdoo Drive in Madison Thursday night.
Madison Utilities General Manager Ricky Pounders said the main break happened at the Madison Utilities pump facility on McAdoo Drive and Coveshire Place. Crews were making construction upgrades on Thursday when the water main line burst.
The Madison Water Department has completed the water main repairs and will increase water pressure gradually.
Madison Utilities said if your home was completely out of water, you will need to boil water until all system water sampling is complete.
They expect the boil advisory to be lifted by Saturday night.
Crews had to flush the system and the boil advisory is a precautionary measure.
Officials said the offices will be staffed on Saturday to answer questions. They can be reached at 256-772-0253.
