Car burglary suspect charged twice in 1 month | News
MADISON, AL (WAFF)- Madison Police arrested a man suspected of breaking into cars at the YMCA.
Huy Tran is accused of breaking into multiple vehicles at the YMCA. When police apprehended him, he was in possession of stolen merchandise and drugs.
Police said Tran was out on bond for previous car break in charges. Tran was arrested in November for breaking into cars at Dublin Park.
Tran was charged with six counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, five counts of theft, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of prescription pills and illegal possession of a credit/debit card.
Officials said they are investigating the case to see if there are any more victims.
More charges may be pending.
Police are working to get Tran's bond revoked. Last time that was a $10,000 bond. This second arrest has upped the ante to a $30,000 bond, but Madison Police hope to get a judge to change that and to keep him from bonding out and committing more crimes.
Police said people who commit certain types of crime, like stealing or drug-related offenses, tend to be repeat offenders. And in this case, they say they have a suspect who will steal again if let out of jail, so they're trying to keep him in jail.
If Tran is bailed out before a judge can get that bond revocation request and the judge signs off on it, police would then take him into custody again.
