HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Huntsville Utilities customers might notice a change in their monthly bill beginning in January. The company is planning on rolling out some rate hikes.
It's part of a four year plan that will help pay for a $100-million water treatment facility on the Tennessee River.
Customers will see the first set of increases next month. The average addition on customer's monthly bill will be $3.19. By the end of the four year plan, customers will see an average increase of about $9.71. The company says, even with these increases, Huntsville will still have some of the lowest rates in the region.
A public meeting will be held for customers to ask questions about the increases. It's at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Huntsville City Council Chambers.
