Madison residents discuss plans for future growth

It's a city with a population over 40,000.

Madison is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, but it's no secret it's going through some growing pains, but relief may be on the way.

In the past ten years, Madison's population has grown 41%.

Can Structure building competition

See what a can of food can do at our social design competition between area high school students. Led by GMC Professionals, the teams will create artistic structures made from canned goods. WAFF 48's Monica Rix will help judge the competition!

Donate three cans of food per person for free admission* to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Museum.

The building competition begins at 8:00 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 1:00 p.m.

This social design competition, contributing to the WAFF 48 Can-a-thon will benefit Christmas Charities Year Round.

Great American smokeout

The American Cancer Society is marking the 35th Great American Smokeout on November 18th by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day.

By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. To have the best chance of quitting successfully, you need to know what you're up against, what your options are, and where to go for help.

WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon

Miracle League bowling!

The Miracle League of North Alabama provides children and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to play Miracle League sports regardless of their abilities, to develop and promote programs and special facilities that meet the unique needs of Miracle League players and their families.

On Saturday, October 30th a group of Miracle League bowlers had a great time at the Madison Bowling Center.

Trunk or Treat

Madison Police and Fire Department is inviting everyone to “Trunk or Treat!”

It will be held on Sunday October 31st from 5pm to 8pm in the front parking lot of the Madison Municipal Complex located on Hughes Road.

Police officers and firefighters will have treats for the children and police and fire vehicles for them to explore.

Ferrari Club charity track day at DUNLOP

Saturday, October 30th, the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) track day hosted by the Dunlop Corporation, benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation!
