The annual WAFF 48 Can-A-Thon kicks off on December 6th, but a special event at the US Space and Rocket Center will give you a chance to donate early.
The USSRC is hosting the Can Do Good Social Design Competition Saturday, and anyone who brings three canned items gets into the museum for free.
The Can Do Good Social Design Competition pits teams from several local high schools against each other for a good cause. The teams are given canned goods, and asked to build whatever kind of structure they can. Engineers and local celebrities (including WAFF 48's Marie Waxel) then judge the structures based on strength and creativity. The winners will get trophies and see their structure left on display for a 3-5 days. After that, the structures are broken down and donated to the WAFF Can-A-thon
The building teams get to work at 9:00 a.m.. Judges inspect the structures at noon. It's being held in the mail lobby of the Main Exhibit Hall, near the gift shop.
