Who does my donation help?
When Madison County residents make a can donation to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon your donation goes directly to Christmas Charities Year Round, a 501 (ac)(3) agency that serves Madison County residents in need.
Christmas Charities' mission is to provide basic necessities to people who are facing difficult times. Specifically, it provides children in low-income families with help to improve their lives, as well as elderly Madison County residents struggling to make ends meet. Eligible families can receive clothing, furniture and appliances any time during the year. And of course at Christmas, CCYR is Santa's little helper providing toys and holiday treats.
Along with the gifts, the canned food donations made to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon in Madison County are used by Christmas Charities to provide these families with everything they need to have a traditional holiday meal. Christmas Charities.....365 Day of Giving.
When is the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon?
The WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon is Thursday, December 6. There are twelve counties in North Alabama participating in the event including Madison County.
How can I make a donation?
Everyone is encouraged to bring a donation by Redstone Federal Credit Union at 220 Wynn Drive or the Spine & Neuro Center at Governors Medical Tower at 201 Governors (on the corner of Governors and Gallatin) in Huntsville on Thursday, December 6. Many donations are made by schools, offices and churches that have held their own can drives in the weeks and months leading up to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon. On December 6, they deliver their entire can collection to the Redstone Federal Credit Union parking lot to donate it to the Can-a-thon.
