Amateur radio enthusiasts to participate in emergency test | Community Spirit
Amateur radio enthusiasts across Madison County will be participating in an emergency services test this weekend.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, radio amateurs will participate in a regional exercise called the Simulated Emergency Test, or SET. Hams, as they are also called, will brush-up on how to quickly and accurately pass along information for government and volunteer organizations from various locations around the county.
Participants will simulate an emergency scenario that will be announced over the air that morning. The Madison County Emergency Management Agency wants the public who may listen over the air that day to be aware that all communications transmitted in relation to the test will be prefaced by “Exercise, exercise, exercise.”
The public can monitor the scenario on frequencies 146.94 MHz and 147.22 MHz.
