Shelter open

A shelter is open in Madison County at the Good Shelter United Methodist Church, 1418 Old Railroad Bed Road, in Madison.

If available, evacuees should bring a change of clothing, blankets, pillows, towels and essential medication for each family member.

Power outage update

Huntsville Utilities estimates as many as 35,000 customers are without power. Outages are scattered throughout the system.

At least 20 substation circuits are off-line. Crews are assessing the damage so that service restoration can begin.

School closings

Madison County Schools will close Wednesday, April 27th at 12:15 p.m. Buses will run as usual. All after school child care and activities are cancelled.

Madison City Schools are also closing. Elementary at 1pm; High school and middle at 12:15 pm.

Calhoun Community College is closing at 12:15pm on Wednesday, April 27th. All evening classes cancelled.

Power outage update

According to Huntsville Utilities there are about 10 small outages with less than 200 customers affected.

The Hazel Green outage earlier this morning was caused by a pole being damaged in the storm.

Madison City and Madison County schools will have a 2 hour delay on Wednesday, April 27th due to severe weather.

Weather sirens in Madison county

The black dots in the center are the siren sites, the green circles are the one mile radius where sirens can be heard. Please be weather aware Tuesday and Wednesday.
